The Fires/COC Instructor will support MISTC‑Okinawa by providing professional formal and informal training and instruction on Fires C2 Systems that support the Fires Warfighting Function. These systems include, but are not limited to, AFATDS, EMT, THSv2, PSS‑SOF, & JADOCS. Additionally, provide unit and individual training in COC Operations, tactics techniques, and procedures (TTPs) as well as COC systems integration and employment.
This position requires involvement in a variety of actions that are related to training individuals, Battalion Staffs, and Regimental Staffs on the proper functioning, employment, roles and responsibilities, and COC system integration TTPs. The instructor will participate in the curriculum development processes such as Course Review Boards, Learning Analyses, Master Lesson File Reviews, and Curriculum Stand‑downs. They will also collect and maintain course data to provide to the Academics Manager for trend analysis.
The instructor reports to and receives derivatives from the Project Manager in coordination with the Contract Site Lead.
- As the fires instructor, provide instruction on the installation, configuration, operation, integration and maintenance of fires related systems.
- As the fires instructor, maintain fires system applications and associated hardware by configuring and troubleshooting each system per supporting technical documentation in a classroom training environment.
- As the fires instructor, reconfigure designated fires systems for classroom instruction when required.
- As the fires instructor, provide guidance to personnel to reconfigure designated fires systems used for exercises.
- As the fires instructor, develop and validate instructional material on designated fires systems.
- As the COC Instructor, provide instruction and training on the use, integration and employment of the current and emerging C2 family of systems in support of the seven war fighting functions, to include but not limited to, the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS), Effect Management Tool (EMT), Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS), Command and Control Personal Computer (C2PC), Tactical COP Server (TCS), Joint Battle Command Platform/ Blue Force Tracking (JBC‑P/BFT), and SharePoint.
- As the COC Instructor, provide instruction and training to COC Staff members on roles and responsibilities of Watch Officers, Watch Chiefs, and Watch Standers for Operating Force Units.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), Mentor, and/or Faculty Advisor during Battle Staff Training Exercises and the execution of scheduled POI Events.
- Assist with Operation Orders development during preparation and execution of Battle Staff Training Events.
- Assist with Master Scenario Event List development and management in support of collective training events.
- Provide Response Cell support and training during collective training events.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on training curriculum improvements and system and application upgrades for designated fires systems to the Course Manager and C2
TECOE through approved channels. - Conduct battle drill demonstrations to Operating Force Marines.
- Travel to conduct on‑site instruction and technical assistance as required to include field training environments and participate in mobile training teams.
- Participate in Course Review Boards (CRBs), Learning Analysis, Master Lesson File (MLF) Reviews, meetings and conferences as recommended by the on‑site government representative, contract site lead, course manager, and project manager.
- Provide recommendations for all aspects of designated course iterations, including course schedule, end of course surveys, and resulting reports.
- Support integration of emerging tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP), and lessons learned that set the foundation for enhanced war fighting skills.
- Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures and Administrative Desktop Procedures.
