Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance activities in Stafford, Virginia. This role focuses on stormwater management and erosion and sediment control planning, inspections, and permitting across active construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and review stormwater management and erosion & sediment control drawings using AutoCAD
  • Conduct field inspections of active construction sites to ensure compliance with permit requirements
  • Serve as a plan reviewer for Stormwater Management (SWM) and Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC)
  • Perform duties as a SWM and ESC Inspector and Programme Administrator
  • Support environmental permitting activities, including CGP and Joint Permit Applications
  • Act as a primary point of contact with regulatory agencies such as the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and related entities
  • Collaborate with designers, environmental specialists, and project teams to guide plan updates and improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation and inspection records
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently holds or is willing to obtain Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) certifications
  • Experience or qualification as:
  • SWM / ESC Inspector
  • SWM / ESC Program Administrator
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Valid driver's license
  • Be able to work in office Monday-Friday
  • Must have experience with environmental permitting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science
  • Experience developing SWM and ESC plans (AutoCAD preferred; training available)
  • Experience with SWPPP site inspections
  • Prior experience as an AS&S Programme Administrator in Virginia
  • Previous or recent DEQ certification
Compensation:
  • $27–$29 per hour, depending on experience
