Our client, a leading specialist hire business serving the construction, industrial sectors, is seeking an experienced and motivated Fitter / Tool Repair Technician to join their dynamic depot team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and previous tool repair experience who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Role:

As a Fitter / Tool Repair Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that a wide range of hire equipment and power tools are maintained to the highest standards. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring that customers receive reliable and fully tested products.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, test, and assess returned equipment to identify any faults or maintenance needs.
Perform fault finding, servicing, and repairs on various tools and equipment.
Prepare equipment meticulously for the next hire, ensuring it meets all safety standards.
Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Complete service and repair documentation with accuracy.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
Support stock control of spare parts and consumables.
Collaborate with depot colleagues to guarantee excellent customer service and equipment availability.
Identify equipment that requires specialist repairs or replacement. Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

Previous experience in repairing, servicing, or maintaining tools and hire equipment.
Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills.
Experience in testing equipment and preparing it for customer use.
Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Desirable:

Experience with in the tool hire, plant hire, equipment hire, or construction sector.
Electrical testing experience (PAT Testing or similar).
Knowledge of power tools, hydraulic equipment, generators, pumps, or related plant equipment.
Relevant mechanical or engineering qualifications. What's On
