Leaf Spring School is seeking a passionate, organized, and relationship-focused Assistant Director/Curriculum Coordinator to help lead our exceptional school community. This position plays a vital role in supporting daily operations while ensuring high-quality curriculum implementation, teacher coaching, and outstanding family experiences.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director/Curriculum Coordinator serves as a member of the school leadership team by supporting school operations, maintaining licensing compliance, coaching teachers, and overseeing curriculum implementation throughout the school. This individual works closely with the School Director to ensure excellent educational experiences for children, families, and staff.

Primary Responsibilities Leadership & School Operations
  • Support the daily operations of the school
  • Serve as acting director when the Director is unavailable
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs and provide coaching
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Assist with enrollment tours and family retention efforts
  • Help maintain staffing ratios throughout the day
  • Support opening and closing procedures
  • Assist with licensing compliance and state regulations
  • Participate in leadership meetings and professional development
Curriculum & Instruction
  • Ensure curriculum is implemented with fidelity
  • Coach teachers on lesson planning and classroom best practices
  • Review weekly lesson plans
  • Support classroom assessments and child observations
  • Model effective teaching strategies
  • Facilitate curriculum training for staff
  • Promote developmentally appropriate practices
  • Monitor classroom environments for quality and engagement
  • Support school readiness initiatives
Teacher Development
  • Mentor new teachers
  • Conduct classroom observations
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Assist with teacher evaluations
  • Lead professional development opportunities
  • Encourage continuous improvement and professional growth
Family Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with families
  • Address parent questions and concerns professionally
  • Communicate children's developmental progress alongside teachers
  • Support family events and school activities
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards
Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure classrooms meet licensing requirements
  • Monitor health and safety practices

    Maintain classroom documentation
  • Assist with accreditation and quality initiatives
  • Conduct classroom audits
  • Support emergency preparedness procedures
Qualifications Required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
  • North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in early childhood education
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of NC Child Care Licensing Regulations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and educational technology
