Key Responsibilities- Review and prepare Forms 990, 990‑EZ, 990‑PF, 990‑T, and related state filings
- Review unrelated business income tax (UBIT) calculations and filings
- Research and analyze complex tax issues affecting exempt organizations
- Provide advisory services including:
Private foundation compliance;
Excess benefit transactions;
Intermediate sanctions;
Public support testing and;
State charitable registrations - Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff and seniors
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Serve as a primary day‑to‑day contact for nonprofit clients
- Coordinate with audit and advisory teams to provide integrated client service
- Assist with IRS correspondence and notice resolution
- Participate in practice development and client relationship building
- Must be able to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, with a focus on not‑for‑profit taxation required
- Active CPA license, EA certification, or progress toward certification preferred
- Experience working with large exempt organizations
- Experience reviewing complex returns and supervising staff
- Working knowledge of tax laws and regulations impacting exempt organizations
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage workload and deadlines across multiple client engagements
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and tax research platforms (e.g., CCH, BNA, RIA);
Knowledge of Pro Systems FX preferred
The compensation for this position ranges from $95,000 - $115,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
