Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the corporate accounting function, taking ownership of critical components of the monthly financial close, complex balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a high‑performing accounting professional who pairs strong technical GAAP knowledge with an analytical mindset. You are a self‑starter who looks beyond the numbers to identify process improvements, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and maintains a great attitude with the mentality that no task is too big or too small.

Key Responsibilities
  • Month‑End Close Ownership:
    Prepare and review complex month‑end journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely closing of the general ledger.
  • Advanced Reconciliations:
    Own high‑volume and intricate balance sheet reconciliations (including cash, prepaids, accruals, and inter‑company accounts), investigating and resolving variances proactively.
  • Financial Analysis:
    Perform deep‑dive Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss variance analysis; identify key business drivers, trends, and anomalies to support management reporting.
  • Audit Leadership:
    Serve as a primary point of contact for the annual external audit, managing the preparation of audit PBC schedules and effectively responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Process Improvement:
    Evaluate existing accounting workflows and systems to identify areas for automation, increased efficiency, and stronger internal controls.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Partner with retail, e‑commerce, and operations departments to ensure financial accuracy and support ad‑hoc business initiatives.
  • Mentorship:
    Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, reviewing workflows and fostering a collaborative team environment.
What You Bring
  • Education & Certification:
    Bachelor of Science in Accounting (or equivalent) from an accredited university. CPA license (or active progression toward licensure) is highly preferred.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. Big 4 or regional public accounting experience is a major plus.
  • Technical

    Skills:
    • Thorough, applied understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (vlookups, index/match, pivot tables, and complex data manipulation).
    • Experience with major mid‑to‑enterprise level ERP accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon, MMS, or similar platforms preferred).
  • Mindset &

    Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with an unyielding attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to work independently, take complete ownership of your work product, and manage competing priorities under tight close deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts to non‑finance partners.
