Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day invoice and payment activities for an environmental waste management organization in Stamford, Connecticut. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working in an onsite setting while handling high-volume financial records. The person in this role will help maintain accurate payable data, resolve billing discrepancies, and contribute to efficient vendor support and audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

- Review invoices and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing payment.

- Enter accounts payable information into internal systems with a high degree of precision and timeliness.

- Reconcile expense records and vendor statements to identify and resolve mismatches or outstanding items.

- Communicate with vendors and internal teams to answer payment-related questions and follow up on documentation needs.

- Assist with audit-related checks by validating payable records and organizing files for review.

- Monitor invoice workflow and help ensure payments are processed in accordance with established deadlines.

- Maintain orderly financial documentation and update records to support reporting and compliance needs. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Proficiency in data entry with strong accuracy and attention to detail.

- Experience handling expense reconciliation and reviewing financial records for discrepancies.

- Ability to provide attentive customer service when working with vendors and internal stakeholders.

- Comfortable working onsite in Stamford, Connecticut.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

- Basic understanding of accounts payable processes, invoice handling, and payment documentation.
