Our client is a privately held, family-owned real estate investment and property management firm with a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets. They are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support the financial and administrative functions of our real estate portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of a stable, family-owned organization while working closely with property management personnel, tenants, vendors, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:- Process accounts payable activities, including invoice data entry, expense allocation and verification, check disbursements, filing, and maintenance of financial records by entity and individual as required.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including preparation and recording of bank deposits and posting of electronic and automatic deposits.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and suppliers, addressing inquiries and maintaining positive business relationships.
- Act as the main contact for tenant-related financial matters, including collections, account inquiries, phone communications, and written correspondence.
- Monitor and maintain tenant compliance with financial lease requirements, including tracking and updating certificates of insurance and related documentation.
- Collaborate with Property and Maintenance Department personnel to support billing activities, work order creation, invoicing, Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, and direct tenant billings.
- Provide administrative and accounting support to the Controller and Associate Controller, including audit and tax compliance activities, lease data entry, report preparation, and documentation requests from senior management.
- Assist with general office operations and perform additional office administrative functions, bookkeeping, and accounting duties as assigned to support business needs.
Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within Commercial real estate (property management, REITs, or real estate family office).
- Proficient with real estate accounting software (Skyline preferred); strong Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Office 365 skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work closely with ownership and legal professionals.
- Self-starter with excellent analytical and organizational abilities.
