Staff Accountant/Senior Accountant (Manufacturing or Public Accounting Exp Req) Description

Our client, a global manufacturer, is seeking a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant to join their team in Stamford, CT. In this critical role you will oversee key accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy during close processes, and support financial reporting and intercompany analysis. You will also collaborate closely with the Controller to drive process improvement and documentation across business units. The ideal candidate will be technically sharp, detail-oriented, and a strong problem solver.

Staff Accountant/Senior Accountant (Manufacturing or Public Accounting Exp Req) Responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities across 3 business units
  • Document close procedures and timelines for each business unit
  • Prepare and process journal entries to ensure proper classification
  • Review and analyze general ledger postings to ensure accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies via reconciliations
  • Support with financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Maintain and review intercompany matrix monthly for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist management with tax compliance and accounting administration
  • Support the preparation of annual external audits & address auditor inquiries
  • Analyze, book, and validate accruals, identifying areas for adjustment
  • Confirm proper and timely revenue recognition
  • Manage the evaluation of bad debt allowances and adjustments
  • Respond to requests for financial information and data
  • Recommend internal controls to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of accounting practices
Staff Accountant/Senior Accountant (Manufacturing or Public Accounting Exp Req) Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 3+ years of manufacturing accounting or 2+ years of public accounting experience is required
  • Experience with general ledger analysis is required
  • Strong Excel skills, including formatting, formulas (ex: VLOOKUP) & pivot tables, are required
  • Ability to work on-site 3-4 days per week is required
