Senior Accounting Associate – Foundation & Community | Hybrid CT
A leading global alternative investment management firm with a sophisticated, multi-strategy investment platform is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to support its private foundation and community-focused entities. The organization offers a highly professional environment, strong resources, and exposure to complex accounting operations across multiple legal entities.
Position Overview
This role will manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of private foundations and corporate community programs. The Senior Associate will have hands-on responsibility for close, reconciliations, audit and tax support, donation activity, and cash management while working across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple private foundations and community programs.
- Lead month-end and year-end close, including accruals and journal entries.
- Prepare and review financial reporting and recurring account reconciliations.
- Track and reconcile fundraising, donations, and related receivables.
- Review financial activity to ensure accurate accounting and coding across entities.
- Support federal and state tax reporting, including Form 990-PF, Form 990-T, and related filings.
- Coordinate annual external audits, including schedules, auditor requests, and follow-up items.
- Assist with banking relationships, cash management, and other accounting initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technology to improve accounting processes and reporting.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting, tax, or audit, including exposure to nonprofit and/or private foundation accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience supporting external audits and 990-PF / 990-T tax filings.
- Experience working across multiple entities.
- Experience with Workday Financial Management preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, and complex formulas.
- Interest in applying AI and automation within accounting and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
