We are working with an established civil construction contractor that is looking to add an experienced Superintendent to their team.

The company delivers a range of industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects
, with a strong focus on site development, earthwork, underground utilities, grading, drainage, and site infrastructure
.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Superintendent who knows how to run a civil jobsite, manage crews and subcontractors, and keep production moving.

This is a field‑driven role for someone who understands earthwork and utilities
, can read civil plans, and is comfortable working with the Project Manager to make sure the job is built safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.

The role will involve travel throughout the Northeast and DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia), depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day field operations on civil site development projects
  • Manage and coordinate crews, Foremen, subcontractors, equipment, and materials
  • Plan and sequence work to keep production moving and minimize downtime
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineers to maintain project schedules
  • Oversee earthwork, mass excavation, grading, utility installation, drainage, and sitework
  • Coordinate installation of stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, and other underground utilities
  • Read and interpret civil drawings, grading plans, utility plans, and specifications
  • Monitor production, manpower, equipment, materials, and quantities
  • Coordinate with surveyors, inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and utility companies
  • Identify field issues early and work with the project team to resolve them
  • Coordinate site logistics, deliveries, equipment, staging, and daily work activities
  • Develop and manage short‑term look‑ahead schedules
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation
  • Monitor quality of work and ensure construction follows plans and specifications
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the jobsite
  • Lead and mentor Foremen and field crews
  • Work with the PM to keep the project on schedule and within budget
  • Assist with project start‑up, planning, and closeout as required
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • 7–12+ years of civil construction experience
    , preferably in site development, earthwork, utilities, or heavy civil
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Foreman ready to step up
  • Strong hands‑on experience with earthwork, grading, excavation, and underground utilities
  • Experience with storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water, and other site utilities
  • Experience on industrial, residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of civil construction sequencing and means and methods
  • Ability to read and understand civil plans, utility plans, grading plans, and specifications
  • Experience managing crews, subcontractors, equipment, and daily production
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work closely with the PM and project team to solve problems in the field
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and schedule
  • Experience with daily reporting and construction management software preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Northeast and DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) as projects require
