We are seeking a deeply talented, guitar-playing musical leader who brings warmth, presence, and exceptional energy to our community. This individual will drive the musical heartbeat of our agency, seamlessly transitioning from leading joyful early childhood songs at the JCC to facilitating soul-stirring Reform Shabbat services at Temple B'nai Chaim.
We want Jewish music, prayer, and cultural engagement to be so magnetic that families run to participate. Your goal is to meet people where they are, ensuring they walk away from every song session, camp day, and service feeling proud, uplifted, and connected.
Reporting Structure & Time Allocation
- Reports directly to the JCC's Associate Executive Director.
- Time Split: Approximately 60% dedicated to JCC programming (Early Learning, JBaby, Camp) and 40% dedicated to TBC congregational life, partnering directly with Lead Rabbi Josh Strom.
Key Responsibilities
- Early Childhood & JBaby: Provide highly engaging weekly music sessions to JCC early learning classrooms. Prepare and facilitate JBaby music classes (approximately 12 hours a week).
- Congregational Worship: Assist in leading Friday evening, Saturday morning Shabbat services, and Holiday Services, working closely with the Rabbi on worship planning and musical direction.
- Youth & Family Prayer: Once a month, help lead Tot Shabbat, using music and interactive prayer to create a welcoming, joyful experience for young children and their families. Work with and provide structured preparation for b'nei mitzvah students.
- Camp & Summer Energy: Develop and execute music programs and activities for campers aged 5 through Grade
5. Drive the musical energy during the summer season as a featured specialist for Day Camps at the J, participating in and leading all-camp activities.
- Strong musical skills, including proficiency in playing guitar and singing.
- Previous experience in leading music programs for children, particularly in a camp or early learning setting, is highly desirable.
- A positive and energetic attitude, and a commitment to fostering a love for music and Jewish culture.
- Ability to work a highly dynamic schedule, requiring flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate camp schedules and special events.
