Position: THS Science Instructor (Office/On-site)

Your Role as a Science Instructor

The Science Instructor will teach high‑school science courses using student‑centered practices that emphasize gradual release of responsibility, differentiation, student discourse, and blended learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering engaging, technology‑enhanced lessons in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science.
  • Communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student progress.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive classroom environment that supports learning.
  • Engaging in professional learning communities and continuing education.
Position Highlights
  • Schedule:

    First Shift, full time (35 hours per week), Monday through Friday.
  • Location:

    J.M. Wright Technical High School, Stamford, CT.
  • Salary: VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.
  • Academic Calendar: 10‑month calendar (188 days per year).

Qualifications
  • Well versed in high‑school science curricula.
  • Professional experience teaching science.
  • Experience designing and using varied assessments to inform instruction.
  • Effective classroom management skills and familiarity with behavior intervention plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google products.
Required Credentials
  • Active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in Biology (#030), Chemistry (#031), Physics (#032), or General Science (#034).
  • Or eligibility to obtain a Connecticut teaching certificate in a listed subject area.
  • Must pass the Biology Praxis exam within one year of appointment.
