Position: Health Technology Instructor (Professional)

Introduction

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about educating the future of the field while transforming the lives of Connecticut’s youth population and patients? If so, we have a unique opportunity for you to consider!

Position Highlights
  • Schedule:

    first shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
  • Location:

    J.M. Wright Technical School, Stamford, CT.
  • Salary: VS01‑VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.
  • Academic Calendar: ten-month academic calendar (188 days per year).
Mandatory Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in a related field (6 years with an associate’s degree or higher).
  • License or temporary permit as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut, or a Multistate or Compact RN license.
  • Within the first year of employment, obtain the following certifications and credentials:
  • CT 109 Health Occupations – Vocational Technical Schools endorsement.
  • BLS instructor certification through the American Heart Association.
  • American Red Cross CPR instructor certification.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with mandatory endorsements for student transport vehicle.
  • Complete mandatory coursework: VTE 113, VTE 116, and Special Education.
  • Valid Connecticut State Board of Education certificate with a secondary school endorsement at time of appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Teach all aspects of the Health Technology curriculum, including theoretical concepts and hands‑on activities.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess instructional content using educational technology.
  • Demonstrate mandatory technical skills and physical ability required for healthcare tasks (standing, moving, bending, lifting, transporting).
  • Obtain and retain a Connecticut CDL mandatory for student transport.
  • Participate in building and district‑level professional development, collaborating with committees and departments to support student learning.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience in long‑term care or rehabilitation facilities.
  • Experience teaching, preparing lesson plans, implementing differentiated learning, and assessing student performance.
  • College Career Pathway (CCP) or UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) instructor certification.
  • Completion of courses VTE 113, VTE 116, and Special Education at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU).
