Special Education Teachers provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve academic, social, and behavioral success. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive learning environment while ensuring students receive the services and accommodations outlined in their IEPs.

Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs and evaluations
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with state standards and individualized learning goals
- Adapt curriculum, lessons, and assessments to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with special education regulations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques as needed
- Foster a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
- Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certification
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
- Experience supporting elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum based on individual student needs
- Proficiency in progress monitoring, data collection, and educational documentation
