Key Responsibilities Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote early learning and school readiness.
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence.
Supervise children throughout the day, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being at all times.
Support children's social-emotional development by modeling positive behavior and conflict resolution skills.
Observe and document children's developmental progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating regularly with families.
Build positive relationships with parents and guardians through daily communication and parent conferences.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and administrators to maintain high-quality educational programming.
Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all state licensing regulations and health and safety standards.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and ongoing training.
Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting, naps, and transitions as appropriate for the age group.
Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or equivalent early childhood certification is a plus.
Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early education setting preferred.
Knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations and early learning standards is preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while fostering positive relationships with children and families.
Preferred Skills Experience implementing play-based or curriculum-driven learning programs.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the developmental needs of individual children.
Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to creating an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
Ability to supervise children in both indoor and outdoor environments.
