STEM & Environmental Educator (Starts week of Sept. 8th 2026) Organization Background:

Mill River Park Collaborative provides the leadership and resources for the creation and maintenance of Mill River Park in downtown Stamford, Connecticut. The Collaborative is a public/private partnership of government, corporate, and community interests committed to building an inviting and exciting park and greenway and ensuring its enduring success.

Job Description:

STEM & Environmental Educators deliver 1 to 4-hour lessons to K to 8th-grade students. Curriculum and training are provided to deliver experiential lessons consisting of an outdoor place-based component and hands-on experiments in our labs. These lessons focus on exploring the connections between the natural and human-made world and developing critical thinking skills. Each educator is responsible for instructing up to 20 students.

We are committed to providing our schools with the highest quality educational experience and are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated educators to join our team.

Details:

STEM & Environmental Educator (Part-Time, Seasonal Position) $21-$23 per hour, depending on experience. 4.5 - 6 hours per class, depending on the class taught. Classes occur during school hours. Additional opportunities may occasionally exist for weekend work. This position starts the week of Sept. 8th and runs until Thanksgiving, with the option to continue with us in the spring.

Desired Experience &

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with elementary and middle school students
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to be on your feet for 6 hours, walk 3 miles per day, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of educators
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a group
  • Ability to maintain strong classroom management and culture
  • A passion for STEM and Environmental Education!
