Advanced Communication Support Worker (BSL) - PE9 Area Make a Real Difference Every Day
Are you passionate about supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing learners? Do you thrive on helping people build confidence, achieve their goals, and unlock their full potential? We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Advanced Communication Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive Further Education college in the PE9 area this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive team where no two days are the same.
You'll play a vital role in helping learners access education, develop independence, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
Working 24 hours per week on a term-time only basis (38 weeks per year), you'll support deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind learners, helping them fully engage with college life and achieve their academic and personal goals. You'll work closely with teaching staff and support teams, using your communication skills and BSL knowledge to remove barriers to learning and create positive, empowering experiences for learners.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Supporting learners to access lessons, workshops, and college activities
- Using BSL and other communication methods to facilitate learning and understanding
- Building confidence, independence, and self-esteem in learners
- Supporting study skills, literacy development, note-taking, and organisation
- Encouraging learners to achieve their EHCP targets and personal goals
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment
- Supporting learners during educational visits, work experience placements, and examinations when required
- BSL Level 1, 2, or 3 qualification
- Confidence communicating using British Sign Language
- A positive, patient, and learner-focused approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A passion for helping learners succeed
- Experience with in education, SEND, support work, or communication support is desirable
- Permanent position
