Senior Operations Specialist (Water)
Join HDR, an employee‑owned engineering firm, to lead change in municipal and industrial water treatment across the United States.
Primary Responsibilities- Support HDR project leaders at local, state, and regional levels on water treatment projects requiring expertise from Operations Specialists.
- Review drawings for operability review and Haz Ops analysis to ensure reliable operation of diverse treatment processes.
- Manage operations and maintenance projects with municipal and industrial clients, including client interface, regulatory reporting, and personnel, subcontractor, and maintenance management.
- Develop startup and commissioning plans and host workshops for client contractors and operators to validate equipment performance.
- Perform startup, commissioning, and formal/informal training for new water treatment facilities.
- Participate in testing to verify capacity and operational readiness.
- Conduct condition assessment and asset‑management tasks using state‑of‑the‑art evaluation tools.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operational or maintenance issues on water and wastewater facilities.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years field experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment at water treatment facilities, with additional construction experience preferred.
- High‑level water‑treatment operator license or professional engineering license.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance‑management systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
30–40 % travel across the United States; weekend travel typically not required. Primary location:
Vienna, Virginia. Other locations available throughout the country.
Salary range: $71,960 – $128,500 annually, based on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
