Job Description
The Derivative Designer is responsible for all aspects of the design process, by transforming the initial conceptual design using CAD into working submittal documents, and to produce fabrication documents from these submittal documents.
Responsibilities- Utilize information received from the System Design Leader/Project Design Manager to create submittal documents, shop and fabrication drawings.
- Understand project specifications, including the typologies, areas and systems used in various projects.
- Adhere to the project phases determined by the Design Project Manager.
- Coordinate with the Design Project Manager to arrange for any special conditions required by the project.
- Study and develop shop drawings, fabrication drawings and PMF.
- Be fully conversant with the Group’s Design Process.
- Mentor and instruct junior members of the team.
- Conduct a thorough first check of all work performed by team members before issuing to the PDM.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the SDL or PDM.
- Supervise and assist with the production of all elevation, floor plan and detail drawings according to the project working program.
- Report any slips or deviations from the program to the SDL and PDM.
- Ensure derivative design drawings tally with structural calculations.
- Any other duties as needed by the specific business unit or department.
- Participate in safety initiatives and programs, such as the safety committee, safety inspections, evacuations and training, and apply all safety policies and procedures in daily work.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or Associate’s degree with relevant experience in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Solid Works; experience with Microsoft Office.
- 3–5 years of related experience; experience in construction or curtain wall industries is a plus.
