Land Surveyor
This Land Surveyor role focuses on performing a wide range of field and office surveying tasks, including topographical, boundary, utility, and construction layout surveys. You will collect and process field data using modern surveying equipment and software, interpret technical documents, and support the preparation of accurate survey deliverables. This position is well suited for individuals who are interested in building a long-term career in land surveying and are comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform topographical surveys, boundary surveys, utility surveys, and construction layout surveys with a high degree of accuracy.
- Collect field data using surveying equipment, including GPS and robotic instruments, and ensure all measurements are precise and properly documented.
- Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, and photographs to assess project needs and plan survey activities.
- Operate GPS systems, including Trimble GPS, to gather and record survey data in the field.
- Utilize surveying software and tools to process field data and support the preparation of survey drawings and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of ALTA and other specialized survey types as needed.
- Coordinate with project teams to understand project requirements and ensure survey work supports engineering and construction activities.
- Maintain survey equipment in good working condition and follow proper field safety practices.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions while adhering to project schedules and quality standards.
- Support drone-based survey activities, including data collection and integration into survey workflows, where applicable.
Essential Skills
- 0–3 years of experience in land surveying or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience with land surveying tasks such as topographical surveys, boundary surveys, construction layouts, and utility surveys.
- Proficiency with land surveying techniques, including topographic and ALTA surveys.
- Experience using Trimble GPS and robotic surveying instruments.
- Ability to collect and document field data accurately using surveying equipment and software.
- Ability to interpret reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, and photographs to support survey work.
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in land surveying.
- Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in measurements and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school education and/or bachelor's-level coursework.
- College degree, preferably in surveying, civil engineering, geomatics, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D for processing survey data and preparing drawings.
- Experience with drone-based survey methods and integrating drone data into survey workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a project team.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with engineers, designers, and field personnel.
Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based and requires working outdoors for extended periods, including in harsh or changing weather conditions. You will regularly use modern surveying technologies such as Trimble GPS, robotic instruments, and Civil 3D software, and may also work with drone survey tools. The position involves a mix of fieldwork and office-based tasks for data processing and drawing preparation. Fieldwork typically requires appropriate outdoor attire and safety gear suitable for construction and survey sites, while office work is conducted in a professional environment using standard computer and software tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of Stamford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr. PTO, Holiday Pay, MEdical, Dental, Vision
