Manager, Field Safety – Transmission & Distribution Projects

• Implement company-wide safety management systems, programs, and policies for Transmission and Distribution Capital Projects
• Monitor and improve safety performance and regulatory compliance
• Support safety efforts associated with Distribution and Transmission Electric Operations capital projects
• Serve as liaison and primary contact for key customers regarding safety management systems, programs, policies, and risk reduction
• Implement the Contractor Safety standard and develop contractor safety oversight strategies
• Manage safety inspections, observations, and auditing programs
• Provide meeting topics supporting safety culture growth in Transmission and Distribution Capital Projects
• Manage continuous improvement opportunities and company and regulatory requirements
• Ensure work procedures and skills training programs comply with regulatory requirements
• Deliver training and information on company safety governance and develop human and operational performance initiatives
• Investigate incidents, identify contributing factors, communicate lessons learned, and implement and validate improvement plans
• Develop policy and procedure revisions based on data trending and incident evaluations
• Maintain safety regulatory affairs and records systems for regulatory reporting
• Monitor and audit safety and health-related work performance of employees and contractors
• Handle improvement actions and audit findings as liaison and primary contact
• Advise operating managers and leadership on safety performance and needed revisions
• Partner with operations leadership to maintain a safe and healthy workplace
• Consult with safety management teams and local safety committees
• Report safety and health performance and trend analysis
• Analyze observations, incidents, events, and reportable injury data; develop improvement plans and program suggestions
• Manage projects resulting from improvement plans
• Work with unions to address and resolve safety and health issues
• Manage the Tri State Safety Advisor team

• Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements for construction practices and electric operations
• Knowledge of safety management systems, culture change practices, and human organizational performance
• Thorough understanding of safety work practices and procedures
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and project management skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Applied Sciences, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of related experience, preferably in the energy sector or comparable industry
• Five (5) years in supervisory and managerial positions in the energy, construction, manufacturing, business sectors, or operating areas
• CSP, ASP, CIH / CAIH, or equivalent preferred
• Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
• Must be available to travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire as necessary
