Job DescriptionThe Broadcast Engineer is responsible for installation,test, andrepairbroadcast television systems and equipment. Equipmentencounteredin this position includes, but is not limited to video servers, broadcast automation systems, VTRs, routers, frame synchronize rs, format converters, distribution amplifiers, encoders, automation servers and computer networks as well as other equipment associated with a television broadcast facility.
- Install,repairandmaintaincomplex digital, high-definition and equipment associated with broadcast operations.
- Configuration and troubleshooting of computers,servers and IT infrastructure for various broadcast needs.
- Provides feedback to the manager of broadcast engineering on the progress and status of internal work assignments as well as open vendor related support issues.
- Proficiency in the use of various digital test equipment to correct equipment problems including oscilloscopes waveform monitors,generators and analyzers.
- Provides users and customers with professional, courteous, andtimelytechnical support.
- Create, andmaintaindrawings for assigned projects,
- Ensures broadcast operations are within current FCC guidelines and regulations.
- Performs other specialassignmentsas necessary.
- Associate’sdegree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Threeor more years of broadcast engineering experience. To perform this job successfully, this individual must be familiar with duties related tooperatingand maintaining a broadcast facility.
- Knowledgeable in broadcast television systems standards and formats.
- Ableto make time critical decisions in a liveon air environment under pressure.
- Experienced in configuration and troubleshooting of computers, servers, and their various operating systems.
- Abilityto troubleshoot problems without help or supervision.
- Mustbe well-organized and self-motivated.
- Capableof managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
- Individual must be able to work under pressure to meet strict job deadlines.
- Effectively communicate and work well with members of staff and customers.
- Mustbe knowledgeable of broadcast standards and able to apply logical troubleshooting skills.
- Individual maybe required to lift heavy objects.
- Abilityto work a flexible work schedule in support of a 24x7x365 broadcast operations.
- Mustpossessa strong work ethic and positive work attitude.
The nature of this position requires the employee to typically work in a broadcast television environment. This position is technical in nature and requires finger dexterity, good eyesight, and the ability to lift heavy objects when needed.
