Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000

Schedule: Monday-Friday onsite (8:30am-5:00pm)

What We Will Expect From You
The Tax Accountant will collaborate closely with the Senior Tax Accountant to support the daily transaction processing and accounting functions for multiple corporate entities. The tax accountant must possess a solid understanding of tax and accounting principles, along with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Confidentiality, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, and an effective communicator. This position requires on‑site presence five days per week.
- Analysis of the General Ledger and volumetric sales data.
- Monitor and reconcile tax accounts, investigate variances, and resolve tax related discrepancies.
- Prepare and review indirect tax filings—including sales and use tax, motor fuel tax, and property tax—while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with relevant accounting standards.
- Assist with tax audits and inquiries by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating communications with tax authorities.
- Conduct ongoing tax research and analysis to stay current on evolving tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and communicate their implications to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with external tax advisors to develop and execute tax planning strategies that optimize VERBIO North America’s overall tax position.
- On-time filing of all monthly, quarterly and annual returns.
- Preparation of tax work papers to support each return that is filed.
- Ensure the tax calendar is always up to date.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to collect financial and sales data and ensure accurate, timely reporting for tax purposes.
- Drive improvements to tax processes, systems, and internal controls to strengthen efficiency and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in tax accounting and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen VERBIO North America’s tax position.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 3 - 5 years of Tax Accounting experience in indirect tax industry or a tax practitioner
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; advanced Excel capabilities (such as pivot tables and complex formulas) are considered an asset.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Distinguished interpersonal communication (both oral and written)
- Analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle complex tax issues and solve problems effectively
This position is primarily sedentary and performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time and occasionally stand or walk. Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing. Visual acuity required for reading, computer work, and reviewing documents. Occasionally required to lift or move office materials weighing up to 15–20 pounds.
