The OpportunityThe primary responsibility of the actuarial team at Odyssey Re is to evaluate the profitability of reinsurance proposals by employing sound actuarial techniques and business acumen while working closely with the company's underwriting staff. By shadowing and learning from experienced actuarial professionals, the intern will gain invaluable, hands‑on experience essential for a career as a reinsurance actuary. The internship will run for 10 weeks beginning June of 2026.
This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days in‑office and 1 day remote each week, based out of our Stamford, CT office.
Projects may include building and improving upon pricing models used by the Department, developing dashboards with data visualization tools that will help us relay pertinent information to our clients, plus other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department.
Qualifications- The candidate should be working towards a degree in an actuarial science or other mathematical field of study with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and above.
- Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn are a must.
- A demonstrated interest in actuarial science through participation in the Casualty Actuarial Society exam process is preferred and encouraged.
- Familiarity with Excel is required.
- Experience with VBA for Excel, Tableau, SQL, R, Python or similar software is a plus.
