Business Leadership Program Internship Overview
Synchrony’s Business Leadership Program Summer Internship is a 10‑week paid assignment in one of our 10 tracks. Each BLP Intern is provided with project work that is important to our business, and you will be expected to challenge us and contribute to driving innovation for our future. Beyond the assignment, BLPs gain the full Synchrony Experience with an immersive orientation during Week1, the Intern Summer Series to meet and network with leaders around the business, and ongoing support from a team and mentors who are invested in your success.
RiskManagement BLP Internship Experience – What You’ll Accomplish
- Gain exposure to risk functions that assess Synchrony’s risks by establishing risk limits, measuring risk performance, and ensuring the business operates within those limits.
- Identify, measure, monitor, and control all relevant risks in our business activities.
- Challenge teams across various business functions to ensure they fully understand their risks.
- Work with the following risk disciplines:
- Credit Risk
- Operational Risk, including Model Risk
- Compliance Strategic Risk
- Model Market and Liquidity Risk
- Ability to work independently and within collaborative teams
- Proven leadership inside and beyond the classroom
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and passion for learning
- Passion for excellence with high integrity and a commitment to quality
- Relevant experience or demonstrated interest in the area of work
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Intellectual curiosity
- Ability to synthesize complex information
- Critical reasoning, problem‑solving, and creative thinking
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead projects of varying scope
- Finance or accounting knowledge or experience
- Strong work ethic, passion for excellence with high integrity, and commitment to quality
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management (preferred), Actuarial Science, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or another relevant major
- Excellent academic record – minimum overall 3.0 GPA
- Available for 10 consecutive weeks during the internship (June – August)
- Must be able to work a minimum of a 40‑hour week
- Must be 18 years or older
- Any offer of employment is conditioned upon successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
- Must satisfy the requirements of Section
19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act - Geographic mobility:
Ability to relocate based on program or business direction. Participants will receive full relocation benefits (if moving 50 miles or more) and fully furnished housing.
