JOB DESCRIPTION

This role in our Alternative Investments practice assists in providing tax compliance and consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.

This role in our Alternative Investments practice assists in providing tax compliance and consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.

• Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensures team compliance with Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual ("TQM").
• Applies understanding of client’s unique circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a review system to ensure full compliance and low tax burden.
• Collects all data needed for filing requirements and identifies and communicates missing items.
• Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
• Collaborates with Manager and Associates to complete projects and follows up on open items.
• Delivers high‑quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
• Leads complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
• Manages the engagement, including billing, collections, and project budgets.
• Documents client work and conclusions in the client tax file.

• Assists with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.

• Mentors teams of Associates.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, required; OR Bachelor’s degree in another field AND CPA certification, required.
• Master’s Degree in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred.

• Two or more years of tax experience, required.
• Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, Hedge Funds), preferred.
• Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships, preferred.

• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") or equivalent, preferred.
• Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role, preferred.

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat, preferred.
• Experience with tax research databases, preferred.
• Proficiency in tax compliance process software, preferred.
