- Oversee compliance and reporting for restricted funds, including city, state, and federal contracts and grants, ensuring adherence to funder-specific requirements and regulations such as 2 CFR 200 / Uniform Guidance
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the engagement
- Oversee accounting practices, audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations
- Assess and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures, particularly around grant and contract compliance
- Prepare financial statements, KPIs, and cash flow analyses for leadership and applicable funders
- Provide steady financial leadership during interim periods, onboard smoothly, and transfer knowledge at engagement close
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, accountants, and external financial service providers
- Oversee finance staff and/or external vendors during the engagement
- 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including direct experience managing restricted funding and city, state, and federal government contracts
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management, GAAP standards, and fund accounting
- Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with additional ERP systems is a plus
- Proven ability to step into interim or fractional roles and deliver results quickly with minimal ramp-up
- Available for hourly, 1099 contract engagements with flexibility across multiple assignments
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- New York Metro candidates preferred and open to working onsite for clients as needed; candidates elsewhere will also be considered
Demonstrates extensive financial leadership with a strong focus on compliance and reporting for restricted funds, including city, state, and federal contracts. Proficient in nonprofit financial management, GAAP standards, and financial planning tools such as Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel.
