Unit Coordinator/Journaler - Labor & Delivery Unit (Part-time Days)

This is a part-time, day shift position. 3 shifts/week, 8am - 4pm.

Major Responsibilities:

• Greets individuals entering the unit, provides directions and information. Registers patients in EMR system and prepares charts according to protocols.
• Manages communication systems, relays messages accurately, and submits service tickets for system support.
• Maintains patient confidentiality under HIPPA and abides by organizational standards.
• Prepares, compiles, and maintains the patient's medical record on the nursing unit utilizing Stamford Hospital's EMR and communication systems.
• Processes patient care from admission through discharge, including billing.
• Coordinates bookings for Cesarian sections, inductions, and External Cephalic Versions, ensuring accurate scheduling updates and clear communication with staff.
• Uses critical thinking and decisive judgement to respond appropriately to complex situations.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
• Basic computer skills
• Minimum 2 years' experience in similar position preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
