Position: Payroll Manager - Stamford, CT (Hybrid) - $150K Package

Stamford, CT (4 days onsite / 1 day WFH)

$ Base + 15–25% discretionary bonus

We are supporting a well-established professional services organisation based in Stamford, CT, on the appointment of a hands‑on Payroll Manager.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Global Head of Payroll & Benefits, and will take full ownership of US payroll operations.

The organisation employs approximately 500+ people globally, with 300+ employees across 13 US states. Strong multi‑state payroll experience is essential.

This is not a people management role. It is a senior individual contributor position with full end-to-end responsibility.

Payroll Manager

- Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and deliver end-to-end multi-state US payroll across 13 states
  • Partner with Accounting, Tax and HR to validate payroll inputs
  • Manage relationship with external payroll tax filing provider
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance and timeliness across multiple pay frequencies
  • Perform payroll audits and support year‑end processes
  • Reconcile payroll journals and support general ledger accuracy
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll queries
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes and controls
Payroll Manager - Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 5 years’ multi-state US payroll experience
  • Strong end-to-end processing background
  • Experience working with third‑party payroll providers
  • Comfortable reconciling payroll journals and partnering with Finance
  • Workday or similar payroll system experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel capability (pivot tables, lookups, manual calculations)
  • Professional payroll qualification (CPP) preferred but not required
