Enterprise IT Leaders – Global Enterprise – Software Engineering/Applications Advisory
Enterprise IT Leaders (EITL) is an executive‑level advisory service that delivers expert insight and guidance tailored to each member’s context and most critical initiatives. EITL covers seven domains within IT:
Applications, Data & Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure & Operations, Program & Portfolio Management, Security & Risk, Sourcing & Vendor Management.
- Manage a portfolio of 28–30 clients, typically software engineering and applications leaders reporting to CIOs in global Fortune 100–500 organizations.
- Deliver value through regular briefings, on‑site workshops, round tables, webinars, and participation in relevant Gartner events.
- Coach and mentor clients on critical initiatives for the software engineering space, leveraging your own experience and Gartner’s research.
- Leverage subject‑matter expertise and Gartner’s intellectual property to provide value to members.
- Align your work with members’ overall objectives to focus on highest‑priority initiatives; track and report value delivered.
- Drive and participate in all phases of the member lifecycle: understand needs, align initiatives, engage and deliver value, capture and articulate results, and utilize learning, teaching, and coaching skills.
- Responsible for member retention/renewal of subscription‑based service through strategic partnership and impact on clients’ objectives.
- Host and/or participate in periodic onsite member activities including workshops, presentations, round tables, and webinars.
- Collaborate with other Leadership Partners in the software engineering domain to improve team effectiveness and drive innovation as the domain evolves.
- University graduate (Masters preferred).
- 20+ years of software engineering leadership experience, including full responsibility for a portfolio of enterprise applications and the application lifecycle (strategy, architecture, selection, deployment, operation, evolution, retirement).
- Direct reporting to a CIO as Director or Leader of Software Engineering or VP of Enterprise Applications.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to assess member situations and provide actionable, outcome‑based advice.
- High tolerance and ability to lead and manage ambiguous situations.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills, including experience working with senior executives.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
- Experience coaching and mentoring senior executives.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
We are looking for an individual who has held the role of Director or VP of Software Engineering or Enterprise Applications and has owned the full lifecycle of the application portfolio. Demonstrated knowledge of software trends, emerging best practices for front‑end and full‑stack product design, and ability to articulate technology and business adoption scenarios are required. A management‑consulting background, experience leading large‑scale ERP programs, and involvement in digital transformation initiatives are highly desirable.
