IT Project Manager, Scrum Master
About the role
Gartner is looking for an experienced IT Program Manager who can provide project and program leadership for technology projects within Gartner’s Digital Product and Technology organization. The Program Manager will guide multiple globally distributed teams under Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) for smooth delivery of various software development projects. They will lead a complex portfolio of IT projects and will be accountable for the entire product delivery life cycle, including the software development process, quality of the results, benefits realization, end‑user satisfaction and timely delivery of the projects.
The candidate will manage and collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and will communicate with stakeholders and leadership on a regular basis.
- Oversee and manage a global technology‑based project portfolio supporting IT infrastructure initiatives and foster an environment of collaboration and high‑impact results.
- Partner with technical leadership to report project progress to executive‑level and cross‑team stakeholders.
- Analyze the scope and direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries.
- Influence and manage the expectations of clients, team members, management, and external groups, acting as a valued IT business partner to senior leadership.
- Establish project metrics, track health, analyze problems, identify root causes, create action plans, and assess impact to develop resolution options.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, sprint review, grooming, and sprint retrospective, ensuring timely delivery of working code (MVP).
- Work as a liaison between product and technical teams to prioritize backlog for MVP development and ensure deliveries follow the quarterly roadmap.
- Collaborate continuously with cross‑functional teams to identify and manage dependencies and risks proactively.
- Communicate project status, risks, issues, delivery/release status, and team performance to all stakeholders.
- Escalate obstacles promptly and promote continuous improvement based on retrospective feedback (create and manage Kaizens).
- Manage the change management process for the team’s regular delivery.
- Monitor JIRA boards, ensure high deliverability of working code (≥80%), and keep team performance data current for management visibility.
- Triage production/ security issues with development and product partners for quick resolution.
- Encourage open discussion between team members and promote a safe working environment.
- Develop risk‑management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to program success.
- Negotiate conflict within and beyond the team as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related STEM fields.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience managing IT development or IT infrastructure projects, with a total of 12 years in the IT industry.
- Certification in an Agile methodology (CSM or PSM preferred).
- Experience working on an AI/ML‑based project environment and solid understanding of related terminology (generative AI, AI agent, agentic AI, LLM, RAG, prompting, etc.).
- Strong understanding of various Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, Lean Product Development, JIT, etc.).
- Proficiency in SDLC, STLC, project planning, and change management.
- Ability to lead and facilitate project ceremonies independently for multiple global teams.
- Coaching skills to guide team members on Agile practices.
- Coordination experience with cross‑functional teams, including business/product teams.
- Proficiency in Agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Service Now, and Microsoft suites (including MS‑Project).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple project deliverables.
- Graduate/Postgraduate in BE/B‑Tech, ME/M‑Tech, or MCA are preferred.
- Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team proactively in an AGILE‑SCRUM environment.
