A precision aerospace manufacturing organization is seeking a CNC Tool Setter to support advanced machining operations. This role is responsible for setting up and preparing cutting tools for complex five-axis milling equipment used to machine large, high-precision components. The position requires strong blueprint reading, machining setup expertise, and the ability to work closely with operators and production teams to maintain quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements, dimensions, setup procedures, and operating instructions.

  • Install and preset cutting tools in designated tool holders according to process documentation.

  • Start and monitor machining operations while verifying setup accuracy.

  • Observe control panel readouts and compare them with process documentation to ensure proper dimensional adjustments.

  • Inspect first-run parts and conduct spot checks on subsequent pieces using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and dial gauges.

  • Maintain documentation related to in-process inspection procedures.

  • Record measurements and maintain statistical process control (SPC) charts.

  • Prepare materials and tooling for upcoming production runs during automated machining cycles to reduce changeover time.

  • Assist with operation or setup of additional equipment within the machining cell when required.

  • Perform machining operations on both metallic and non-metallic materials when needed.

  • Follow established work processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in required training programs and cross-functional team activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process documentation.

  • Functional proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Must meet regulatory requirements for access to controlled technical data.

  • Ability to follow standard manufacturing procedures and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.

  • Trade school, apprenticeship, or vocational training in machining or manufacturing.

  • Experience with machining processes, tooling setup, and precision manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with complex machining operations and specialized materials.

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may involve standing for extended periods, handling materials, and working around automated machining equipment.
