Building One Community (B1C) is a Stamford, Connecticut-based nonprofit supporting the successful integration of immigrants and their families. At B1C, immigrants acquire the tools they need to thrive. We provide free services that educate, employ, empower and engage immigrants and the broader community. Our programs include English Language classes, Family and Individual Support Services, Academic Enrichment Programs, Immigration Legal Services, and Workforce Development programs.
PositionThe Community Engagement and Outreach Manager plays a key role in building and maintaining relationships that strengthen Building One Community (B1C)'s programs, services, and resources for immigrant individuals and families throughout Fairfield County. Reporting to the Associate Director of Family Services, this part-time position begins at 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to up to 25 hours per week based on organizational needs.
The Manager develops strong, trust-based relationships with community organizations, service providers, schools, faith communities, businesses, consulates, and other institutions. The Manager serves as a liaison between B1C and external partners to strengthen referral pathways, develop collaborative opportunities, and expand access to resources and services. The Manager also supervises the Outreach Coordinator, providing guidance and support to ensure outreach efforts align with broader community partnership priorities.
The Manager will also identify and coordinate resources, including in-kind goods and services and other community support that benefit B1C participants and programs. The position works closely with B1C Program, Communications, and Development teams to align community partnerships and resources with organizational and program priorities.
The position has a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends based on partner meetings, events, and organizational needs, with time spent in the community, in the field, or at the B1C office for partner communication, planning, follow-up, data tracking, reporting, and administrative responsibilities.
Primary Duties- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with community organizations, service providers, schools, faith communities, businesses, consulates, and other institutions that serve or support immigrant communities.
- Serve as a liaison between B1C and external organizations, strengthening referral pathways, facilitating connections, and developing collaborative opportunities.
- Conduct direct outreach and engagement in the field alongside the Outreach Coordinator, including grassroots outreach, tabling, and community events, to raise awareness of B1C, support participant recruitment and engagement, and maintain a consistent presence in priority communities.
- Represent B1C as a visible ambassador at partner meetings, community fairs, coalitions, and other gatherings, and deliver presentations to partners and community groups.
- Partner with B1C program teams to understand priorities and upcoming initiatives, and identify relevant community initiatives, programs, services, and coalitions that expand opportunities for participants and programs.
- Gather participant and community feedback through conversations, surveys, and outreach activities, and identify emerging needs, service gaps, and barriers, sharing insights with B1C program teams.
- Coordinate collaborative events, workshops, health initiatives, tabling, and other activities with B1C partners and service providers, and support the planning and execution of major B1C organizational events and community engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate in-kind donations and other community resources, working with the Development team, Family Services, and other departments to cultivate donor relationships, community support, and donation distribution events.
- Supervise the Outreach Coordinator, providing guidance and support to ensure outreach aligns with broader community partnership efforts.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of community partners, referral resources, partnership and outreach activities, participant feedback, and outcomes in Salesforce or other appropriate systems.
- Fluency in Spanish and English with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
