Position Details- Per Diem Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
- Location:
Long Ridge Medical Center, 260 Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06902 - Schedule
- Monday-Friday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Prior Orthopedic APP experience required
- Experience in urgent care, sports medicine, emergency medicine, or orthopedic surgery required
- Ability to independently assess and manage orthopedic conditions in an ambulatory setting required
- Clinical Care:
The PA or NP provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. The NP/PA, whether the practice setting is inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient, provides optimal patient care from diagnostic to prognostic matters, collaborating with attending supervising/collaborating physicians in accordance with state law and hospital regulations. The NP/PA obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, reviews or orders diagnostic or therapeutic tests and radiologic results, formulates and manages patient treatment plans, performs procedures, prescribes treatments and medications per institutional and state guidelines, and may serve as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope and prerequisites. - Patient Education & Psychosocial Support:
The NP/PA will educate patients/families on care and recommended resources, including admitting instructions, treatment plans, potential side effects, and discharge plans, providing psychosocial support in a caring, ethical, professional manner. - Information Management:
The NP/PA ensures appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements, protecting information of all forms from unauthorized access or disclosure. - Quality Management:
The NP/PA demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. - Professional Development:
The NP/PA engages in projects that maintain and advance professional competency, serves as a clinical resource for new staff, reports safety events, and may serve as a preceptor or mentor. The NP/PA may collaborate on research, quality assurance, and performance improvement projects and assist in protocol development.
- Education
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Experience
- Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
- APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and undergo the credentialing process. Evidence of current competence to practice must be provided, including reference letters from physicians and other practitioners.
- Licensure
- Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, and DEA License as indicated.
- Pediatric position profile requires PALS, and neonatal care requires NRP Certification as indicated.
- Additional licensure, certifications, and/or continuing education credits may be required during employment based on position and area of specialty. OR Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, Board specialty certification as appropriate, ACLS/BLS Certified, and DEA License as indicated.
