Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Allergy (Full Time)

Job Summary:

Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Allergy at our Stamford Allergy Office. The Licensed Practical Nurse – Allergy will provide a high level of general care and education to patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience.

Schedule

Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays within operating hours of 7am-7pm. Open flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.

Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $27-33

Responsibilities
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s).
  • Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under the direct or indirect supervision from a provider.
  • Prepare necessary supplies for allergy testing and treatments.
  • Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators.
  • Assist in the interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed by an RN or provider.
  • Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Administer allergy shots and ensuring provider is on site.
  • Observe, record and report patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments.
  • Assess patients’ needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems.
  • Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal).
  • Maintain accurate patient records, document all visits in EMR.
  • Assure patient stays for required observation time after injections.
  • Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations.
  • React appropriately in patient reaction situations, inform physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
  • Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization (including biologics), and procedures within established guidelines.
  • Understand provider to patient flow and anticipate provider’s next steps to the best of their ability.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in the provision of quality patient care.
  • Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date.
  • Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to the preparation of allergy serums.
  • Regularly interact with physicians, other providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed.
  • Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to the supervisor.
  • Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to, ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested.
Qualifications
  • Previous Allergy experience required.
  • Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the respective state Education Department.
  • Pass the NCLEX-PN examination.
  • Active LPN license in the state working in required.
  • CPR and AED Certifications required.
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent patient relations and customer service skills.
  • Open availability to work during weekdays.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.
