Job Overview

Behind every successful production is equipment that's ready when it matters most. As a Gear Shop Technician, you'll help keep our productions moving by ensuring our rental inventory is organized, maintained, tested, and production‑ready. From prepping camera, audio, and video equipment to supporting clients and maintaining quality standards, you'll be an essential member of the team that supports the productions behind some of today's biggest unscripted television series.

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, has an understanding of television and/or film production, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service and attention to detail.

The role is based in Stamford, CT and reports to the Vice President of Gear Shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain rental equipment inventory, both physically and within the rental management system.
  • Initiate any repairs, routine cleanings of audio & video equipment, and quality control inspections to ensure equipment meets our quality control standards.
  • Prepare, check out, receive, and inspect rental equipment for outgoing and returning orders.
  • Coordinate the safe handling, packaging, shipment, and transfer of rental equipment.
  • Unpack and inspect returned equipment, document and report any damages or missing items, and return gear to inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Gear Shop workspace.
  • Support the day‑to‑day operations of the Gear Shop and assist with additional technical responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization with discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Self‑starter that is willing to learn, manage ambiguity, and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Patience, tolerance, and resilience are key skills.
  • Working knowledge of television and/or film production and professional production equipment.

The pay range for this role is $26.44 to $28.85 per hour. As a non‑exempt employee, this role is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, which may include education, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for our All‑Staff Bonus Plan, subject to the rules of the plan.
