About the Role

We’re building a world of health around every individual — shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) role is a development-focused position designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager role. The SMIT program spans 16 weeks of self-paced and collaborative training, with virtual and hands‑on learning experiences.

Program Overview

The SMIT program supports your growth through mentorship by your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach. The program is structured to prepare you for leadership, ensuring you develop the skills needed for a future store manager role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms to support and lead the team.
  • Perform customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
  • Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  • Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
Expectations & Promotion
  • Actively engage with leaders in Key Learning Experiences to support your path to promotion during the program.
  • Support the store as a management team member and lead consistently with CVS values and policies.
  • Engage colleagues in supporting the company’s purpose of "helping people on their path to better health."
  • Willingness to accept promotion roles within the market you work in.
  • Selection for SMIT does not guarantee promotion; promotion depends on performance and availability of openings.
  • Willingness to be promoted to Store Manager role at any location in the designated market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
  • Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Retail management experience, or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
Work Schedule

Anticipated weekly hours: 45. Time type:
Full time.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $18.50 – $28.67 per hour. The base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary depends on experience, education, geography and other factors.
