Role Summary

The Physical Security Intelligence Operations Analyst is a Hybrid role within the Joint Security Operations Center (JSOC). Analysts support the safety and security of Synchrony personnel and assets by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence on physical security threats and crisis events.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Collect and research intelligence from a wide range of sources including open‑source intelligence (OSINT), social media, internal databases, dark web monitoring, proprietary fraud platforms, law‑enforcement reports, and vendor threat feeds.
  • Utilize multiple data sources (Fraud query‑based tools, Neo4j, Lexis, Aperio) to acquire data and reports for analysis and investigative leads.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the intake and escalation of all physical security and crisis‑management issues.
  • Support threat‑intelligence collection and triage of internal systems to detect fraud.
  • Provide enhanced security monitoring, analyze collected data, audit findings and security procedures, and brief Synchrony’s security management team for appropriate response.
  • Monitor crisis, threat‑intelligence, and fraud‑detection tools to assess business impact and disseminate information rapidly to leadership.
  • Track and log all security events in the incident management system.
  • Generate and provide access‑control reports to departments for auditing and investigations.
  • Manage the physical‑security request management system and monitor Physical‑Security operations at Synchrony Data Centers.
  • Provide physical‑security support for investigative teams, crisis‑management events, and intelligence‑team taskings related to threats against Synchrony assets and personnel.
  • Coordinate guard response to events through the contract guard manager and coordinate maintenance/repair requests on security technology.
  • Prepare and disseminate metric reports on physical security and crisis‑management data; conduct quality‑assurance reviews of security technology and procedures.
  • Audit access‑control operator actions, including cardholder access, technology controls, alarm activity, and acknowledgements.
  • Monitor media and weather‑related events for incidents that could impact Synchrony and act as point of contact for crisis management and security incidents.
  • Provide remote oversight of employee travel to ensure safety and protection of Synchrony personnel; collect weekly travel information for leadership.
  • Maintain and publish Security Crisis Management content on an internal company‑wide webpage to educate employees about security awareness and travel security.
  • Conduct investigative research related to fraud, targeted threats, insider risk, and other physical‑security concerns; gather supporting information for senior‑analyst investigations.
  • Perform preliminary data analysis to identify patterns, emerging risks, indicator correlations, and anomalies associated with physical security and fraud threats.
  • Assist in drafting intelligence reports, threat briefings, and risk assessments; support fraud‑special investigations and executive‑protection teams with contextual intelligence.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Fraud Investigations, Executive Protection, Physical‑Security Leadership, JSOC) and maintain accurate records of intelligence activities and case documentation.
  • Recommend enhancements to intelligence processes and tools based on analytic needs and research outcomes; stay current on threat landscapes, industry trends, and investigative methodologies.
  • Contribute ideas toward improving day‑to‑day business practices related to the JSOC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 4+ years of security experience in government, law‑enforcement agency, or corporate security organization.
  • Ability to research, investigate, compile information, assess, and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable in a high‑tech work environment and willing to learn new tools and innovations.
