HVAC Service Estimator - On-Site, Budgeting & Takeoffs

Role Description This full-time, on-site HVAC Service Estimator role is based in Stamford, CT. The HVAC Service Estimator will review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate estimates for HVAC service, replacement, and new installation work. Daily responsibilities include performing takeoffs, calculating material and labor costs, requesting and analyzing vendor quotes, and preparing detailed proposals for customers and general contractors.

The role will collaborate closely with technicians, project managers, and office staff to clarify project scopes, scheduling requirements, and cost assumptions. The estimator will also update and maintain pricing databases, track job costs versus estimates, and support budgeting and forecasting for upcoming projects.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in HVAC systems, including understanding of equipment, ductwork, controls, and installation methods.
• Practical experience or familiarity with Piping and related mechanical systems for commercial and/or residential projects.
• Knowledge of Plumbing systems and how they interface with HVAC where applicable is a plus.
• Skills in Project Management and Budgeting to develop accurate estimates, track costs, and support project planning.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and job scopes for HVAC and mechanical projects.
• Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and standard office tools; basic math and analytical skills required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams in a professional manner.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Relevant field experience in HVAC service, installation, or estimating is preferred; trade certifications or licenses are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to visit job sites within Fairfield and Westchester County as needed.
