Position Function:

The Planning and Assessment Coordinator is primarily responsible for facilitating programs, services, and activities in support of the Division of Student Affairs’ goals, objectives, and strategies. Working in the Office of Planning and Assessment, activities include, but are not limited to, assisting departments in the development of success strategies, coordinating activities across the division in support of strategic goals and objectives, and working with the Vice President for Student Affairs team in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification.   • 1. Working with student affairs teams, committees, and leadership, coordinate, facilitate, and manage special events in support of student affairs including professional development programming and training, new employee orientation, and student success initiatives.
  • 2. Coordinate special projects and activities designed to reinforce plans, policies, and procedures.
  • 3. Review current division-wide strategies, goals, and policies, and conduct analysis to determine if updates or changes need to be made; make recommendations to student affairs professionals and leadership in the development of new strategies, goals, and policies.
  • 4. Look for, recommend, and facilitate effective collaborative opportunities that can achieve common goals and objectives.
  • 5. Assist with the strategic planning process at the division and department level.
  • 6. Work with departments to determine assessment and planning needs and conduct other research activities.
  • 7. Facilitate relationships between departments and other campus partners, including but not limited to the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
  • 8. Assume other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Office of Planning and Assessment and the Office of VP for Student Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs / College Student Personnel, Public Administration, or other related field and one year of relevant experience in a student affairs setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Student Learning and processes.
  • Ability to conduct data analysis.
  • Superior leadership and management skills (including interpersonal and organizational).
  • Excellent presentation skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral, written, and listening communication capabilities.
  • Ability to research and understand higher education models, especially those applicable to Student Learning, Assessment, and Strategic Planning.
  • Working Conditions and Physical Effort
    • No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
    • Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
    • Vision requirements:
      Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
