Academic Advisor , II, or III

Mississippi State University is hiring a Academic Advisor I, II, or III to guide prospective and current undergraduate students through degree planning within a specific academic department. The advisor helps students navigate class schedules, financial aid, and transition strategies while resolving academic problems and tracking progress toward graduation.

• Advises students on college and school policies, degree requirements, and financial aid and scholarship parameters
• Reviews and evaluates transfer transcripts for applicable academic credit
• Processes forms such as add/drop, withdrawal requests, academic forgiveness, substitutions, and appeals
• Monitors grades and attendance to proactively reach out to students and provide academic coaching
• Recruits prospective students and helps prepare recruiting materials for the university and college
• Leads orientation sessions and other academic events for incoming students
• May supervise student employees and lower-graded staff and help train and interview new hires
• May serve as instructor of record for freshman transition courses
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 1 year of directly related experience
• Prefers candidates with a master’s degree or equivalent
