Web Developer, Front End Developer
Position Function:
Provides web development for select Extension Service websites, consisting primarily of a comprehensive range of websites built in content management systems such as Drupal and Word Press, and various other web applications.
Salary Grade:14Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Anticipated Appointment Date:October 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience:
One (1) year related experience in maintaining and developing web-related applications.
Master's degree in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Fluent with HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and Twig.
- Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
- Knowledge and understanding of database design and implementation.
- Programming skills in PHP or other web programming languages.
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into responsive, mobile‑first websites.
- Knowledge of React, Angular, Svelte, and other component‑based frameworks a plus.
- Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud software for minor image manipulation.
- Knowledge of dependency managers like Composer, NPM, etc.
- Skills in the maintenance, installation, and upkeep of Drupal and Word Press installations.
- No unusual physical requirements. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
- Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict‑resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
- Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
