Position Summary

Ethos Residential is seeking a Real Estate Finance Manager to serve as the Company's lead accounting and financial reporting professional. This position is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and management of accounting and financial operations across a growing portfolio of real estate investments, development projects, and operating entities.

The primary focus of the role is accounting leadership, including financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, cash management, investor reporting support, tax coordination, and financial controls. The position also assists ownership with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, acquisition underwriting, and portfolio reporting.

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who understands real estate ownership and can support the broader financial management needs of a growing real estate investment company.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Review accounting entries prepared by administrative and operations staff.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, loan accounts, escrow accounts, and security deposits.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and entity-level accounting.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Coordinate annual tax return preparation with outside CPA firms.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for ownership, lenders, and investors.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support annual audit, review, and tax engagements.
  • Manage cash management reporting and account reconciliations across multiple entities.
Treasury, Payroll & Compliance
  • Monitor company cash balances and cash requirements.
  • Assist with payroll review and labor cost allocations.
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers.
  • Support annual W-2 and 1099 reporting processes.
  • Assist with business registrations, tax filings, sales tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain financial records required for lenders, investors, and regulatory obligations.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis.
  • Support ownership with property performance reporting.
  • Develop cash flow projections and capital planning schedules.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis as requested.
Acquisitions, Development & Asset Management Support
  • Assist ownership with acquisition underwriting and investment analysis.
  • Support construction budgeting and draw tracking.
  • Maintain development and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Assist with portfolio-level performance analysis and investor reporting requests.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accrual accounting, and month-end close procedures.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience managing multiple entities and bank accounts.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Preferred
  • Multifamily housing, student housing, development, or construction accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing investor and lender reporting.
  • CPA or CPA-track candidate.
  • Experience with App Folio or similar real estate accounting platforms.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000 plus bonus
