Administrative Support Intern
The Engineering Services Office in the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is seeking a self-motivated, positive, customer service oriented and quality conscious Administrative Support Intern to join our Facilities Operations & Maintenance team. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
This will be a year-round position. You will work up to 20 hours per week during the semester, and up to 40 hours a week during the summer.
You will:
- Answer phones and greet visitors
- Assist with assigning, closing, and commenting on facilities work orders
- Scan documents for purchasing and travel expense reconciliation
- Update building door cores
- Verify key inventory and records
- Deliver items, such as paper, keys, etc., as requested
- Assist Trades as requested
- Assist in reorganization of computer shared folders
Required skills and experience include:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Interest in learning job related software
- Success in effectively working in an office environment that utilizes diverse communication and organizational skills
- Professionalism with a high commitment to customer service
- Ability to take initiative and effectively manage time, prioritize, and problem solve
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
Preferred skills and experiences include:
- SIMBA, Confluence, Workday, and SAP Concur
- Active government security clearance
The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer.
This is a paid internship located fully on-site in State College, PA; relocation and housing are not provided.
