Education Program Coordinator

The Department of Geo Sciences at Penn State is looking for an Education Program Coordinator to assist with administrative and financial functions while providing excellent customer service. The role is an integral part of the International Geo Biology Course (IGC) and Dr. Kate Freeman’s lab.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee coordination, planning, and arrangement of the IGC and its affiliated events (Mini‑Symposium) including field trips, guest speakers, and course activities at Penn State and abroad; arrange catering and venues; order supplies; facilitate student applications and faculty evaluation; manage admitted‑student communication and course registration; coordinate lodging logistics; handle registration and tuition payments; collect all course documents; initiate expense reconciliation and honorarium payments;

    create annual budget reports; design marketing emails; maintain a listserv; update the course webpage; create job postings for undergraduate students; serve as the first point of contact for all course‑related communications; and arrange the recurring IGC Alumni Meeting at an upcoming conference.
  • Assist with Dr. Freeman’s lab operations: order supplies; initiate travel reconciliation; ensure compliance with Penn State lab safety training requirements; manage the lab calendar; and help with award reporting.
