This is an approximately 18-month rotational development program at Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., primarily involving in-person work across various job sites. This role is crucial for developing future construction professionals by providing comprehensive hands-on experience across multiple core aspects of the business. The program is designed to prepare the employee for potential placement into a regular full-time position upon successful completion.

What You’ll Actually Do
  • Work hands-on in field operations to develop a practical understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and executing daily project operations to ensure safety, quality, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Support the technical and administrative management of construction projects, including scheduling, cost review, and contract administration.
  • Contribute to the preparation of bid proposals for heavy/highway projects by performing quantity takeoffs and researching pricing and historical data.
  • Learn and apply company software, policies, and safety requirements while building effective relationships with internal and external project partners.
The Must-Haves
  • Background:
    Entry-Level professional with knowledge of heavy and highway construction practices, civil engineering principles, and construction means and methods.
  • Experience:

    Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn multiple aspects of the construction business, along with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Skills:

    Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong organizational and analytical abilities; capacity to read and interpret construction plans and documents; and the ability to perform mathematical calculations and analyze construction-related information.
