Position Overview
The Child Care Center at Hort Woods on the University Park campus is seeking an Early Childhood Development Educator to work with children ages 3 to 5. The educator provides and maintains a safe, secure, and stimulating classroom environment, fosters positive relationships with families, and collaborates effectively with both classroom and center-wide teaching and support teams.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, deliver, and facilitate developmentally appropriate and engaging experiences for children in all developmental and learning areas within the framework of the state early learning standards.
- Prepare lesson plans to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth; integrate curriculum into daily routines, lesson plans, developmental experiences, and assessments; individualize curriculum experiences to meet student needs.
- Ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment and compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop and facilitate assessments to monitor student progress.
- Maintain student records and data; prepare reports.
- Integrate family culture, language, and ability into classroom curriculum.
- Supervise classroom aides and evaluate them.
- Maintain communication with parents; provide guidance, education, and suggestions; partner with parents to establish individual student goals.
- Maintain standards in accordance with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and PA Keystone STARS 4 quality standards.
This position minimally requires a Bachelor’s degree plus one year of relevant experience.
Minimum Education , Work Experience & Required CertificationsBachelor’s Degree with one year of relevant experience; or a minimum of a Child Development (CDA) Credential. A health physical with TB test is required prior to starting the position. No specific certifications are required.
Background Checks/ClearancesThis position requires a PA State Police criminal background check, a PA Child Abuse History clearance form, a federal (FBI) fingerprint criminal background check, and a National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) clearance. Additional clearances may be necessary if you have resided outside Pennsylvania in the past five years. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Salary & BenefitsSalary range: $34,800.00 - $50,500.00.
