Position Overview

Associate Director of Stewardship and Alumni Relations to support the University Libraries Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Report to the University Libraries Director of Development and lead stewardship initiatives, alumni recruitment, communications, strategic planning, staff supervision, and budget administration for the University Libraries.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the stewardship program for the University Libraries.
  • Identify and recruit alumni for participation in programs, alumni boards, and committees.
  • Engage in marketing and communications efforts related to stewardship, including writing for print and online publications.
  • Participate in strategic and long‑range planning for new initiatives and programs to enhance stewardship activities.
  • Provide professional guidance and leadership to volunteers and staff to execute strategies and programs.
  • Collaborate with partners to maximize stewardship success across the University.
  • Engage University partners and the community in stewardship activities.
  • Communicate stewardship objectives and responsibilities to Development and Libraries leadership, including endowment oversight.
  • Plan and coordinate nomination and selection processes for alumni associations and scholarship awards.
  • Initiate, plan, and manage programs and special events both on and off campus.
  • Coordinate endowment management efforts and serve as liaison for eSteward, stewardship, and endowment inquiries.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and direct assigned staff, including one full‑time employee and one seasonal intern.
  • Plan and execute Development Board meetings, serve on Planning and Events and Executive Board committees, and manage board communication.
  • Administer the Libraries development budget and articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions, and values through informal and formal communications.

  • Strong donor‑centered mindset with ability to build and manage meaningful donor relationships.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills; ability to create an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Experience in advancement functions, including events, stewardship programs, endowed funds, and e‑stewardship/engagement tools.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to think beyond individual tasks and develop integrated, multi‑year engagement, marketing, and communications strategies.
  • Proven ability to self‑motivate and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $65,508.00 – $94,980.00 (dependent on experience and qualifications).
