Research Engineering Interns

We are seeking Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering students for an internship in the Strategic Systems Operations Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This position will be onsite State College, PA or Reston, VA locations.

• Research, summarize, and present information to internal and potentially external reviewers
• Work as part of a team, designing, programming, integrating and/or testing hardware and software, algorithms and systems. Specific duties will be assigned per your background
• Create a documentation package for your work
• Present your work to the division leadership team

• Completion of your sophomore year in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a comparable field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Interest in one or more of the following topics:
  Software Development and Design, Digital Logic and Embedded Programming, Signal Processing, Radio Frequency (RF) Hardware and Phenomenology, Communications
• Moderate skill level in any of the following:
  Python, MATLAB, C, C++, Lab View

This part‑time position is located at either the State College, PA or Reston, VA locations; relocation is not provided. Selected candidate may work up to 10 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during non‑academic time periods.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
